Kinzai Institute of Financial Affairs, Inc (KINZAI) signs agreement with Pearson VUE to assess merger and acquisitions professionals

TOKYO, 12 November 2013 — Finance professionals working with small and medium-sized enterprises in Japan will benefit from a test delivery partnership between KINZAI and Pearson VUE. The exam, “Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Certification programme” will be available at approximately 140 Pearson VUE® Authorised Test Centres (PVTC) throughout all 47 national prefectures, offering a high standard of security measures. The exam, designed to be delivered via a testing ‘window’, can be scheduled from February 10th through April 11th 2014.

The exam will be jointly sponsored by KINZAI and Nihon M&A Centre Inc. Candidates can test for the 90-minute exam consisting of multiple-choice items via computer-based testing (CBT). The M&A certification programme measures the fundamental knowledge essential for succession planning. Such knowledge is relevant to M&A schemes, which are rapidly increasing in the small and medium-sized business environment and related tax laws.

The certification programme will greatly contribute to developing consultation skills of Sales and Finance personnel in financial institutions, Certified Accountants and Tax Accountants, and will benefit in driving operations related to succession planning and M&A.

Iwao Takezaki, Board Director of KINZAI said: “Our expectation of CBT is very high in terms of improving candidate experience as candidates will be enabled to book exams whenever seats are available and receive instant results after testing. We are also counting on the highly secure testing solution to safeguard the integrity of the exam and candidates.”

Tomofumi Matsubayashi, Representative Director and CEO of Pearson VUE Japan, added: “It is satisfying to see professionals progress in their careers and even more rewarding when they are able to support people and businesses alike. The agreement with KINZAI marks Pearson VUE’s first finance testing programme in the region and an achievement in which we are immensely proud of and have much experience supporting finance programmes globally.”
