SHL-Japan selects Pearson VUE to deliver computer-based aptitude test to job seeking university students

TOKYO, July 1, 2013 — University students planning to start their careers with some of the most prominent companies in Japan are set to benefit from a test delivery partnership between SHL-Japan and Pearson VUE.

From August 2013, students can take the Sogo-Tekisei-Kensa — an aptitude test designed to assess the analytical, logical and mathematical skills of students applying to top tier corporations — in a computer-based format across the country. Available at approximately 200 Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Centers (PVTC) throughout all 47 national prefectures, the 60-minute exam consists of multiple-choice items and graphic-based questions to assess the range of skills required. The agreement also allows candidates to schedule exams in real time and arrange them up until one day before the date of testing.

Prior to being available in controlled and invigilated computer-based testing environments, SHL-Japan exams were delivered online.

Masaki Sanjo, Executive Director, SHL-Japan, said: “The move to computer-based testing gives candidates an invigilated and controlled path to promising careers. Pearson VUE’s history of delivering exams across Japan, coupled with its commitment to service excellence, will ensure the company is able to meet our current and future testing needs.”

Tomofumi Matsubayashi, Representative Director and CEO of Pearson VUE Japan, added: “As job markets become more competitive, employers are placing even greater emphasis on exam results which give an indication of key skills. We are proud to use our world-leading experience, comprehensive and highly secure test center network and industry knowledge to help students and SHL-Japan continue to achieve.”
