American Osteopathic Association

Operating under the authority of the American Osteopathic Association

The AOBOG is one of 18 certifying Boards of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and is regulated by its Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists to administer examinations. These examinations are one part of the certification process for physicians seeking AOA certification and continuous certification in obstetrics and gynecology. The function of the AOBOG is to identify those practicing physicians who are eligible for examination to become certified by the AOA in obstetrics and gynecology. The examination measures the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of an OB/GYN in order to make competent judgments in the care of patients.

Computer-Based Testing Tutorial and Practice Exam

Although this tutorial demonstrates many types of questions, the AOBOG examinations use only one-best-answer, multiple-choice questions. These may be presented as single items, or as case scenarios.

Certification Application

Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:

  1. submitted all application materials directly to the AOBOG; and
  2. received written confirmation from the AOBOG of exam eligibility and scheduling.

Scheduling

First-time test takers will receive, via email from AOBOG, exam scheduling instructions and candidate ID number. Upon receipt of this information, candidates may sign in or create an account to schedule their testing appointment. This email notification from AOBOG will be sent to the email address provided on your exam application. If the email address you originally provided to AOBOG is no longer accurate, you must resolve the discrepancies before you schedule your exam.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email listing your test date, your testing time, and, if applicable, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.

Your examination results will NOT be available at the test appointment. Results will be emailed to you by AOBOG.
