New York Medication Aide Certification Examination (MACE) Testing
The Medication Aide Certification Examination (MACE) is a national medication aide certification examination that is administered in New York to certified Home Health Aides who have successfully completed a New York State approved Advanced Home Health Aide Training Program (AHHATP). NCSBN develops the MACE examination and administers the exam with the contractual assistance of Pearson VUE. In order to qualify as an Advanced Home Health Aide, you must successfully complete a New York State approved Advanced Home Health Aide Training Program and pass the MACE. You are eligible to take the MACE up to two times within 180 days from the first day of AHHATP class. If you fail the MACE twice within the 180 day time period, you will have to successfully complete another approved AHHATP. All MACE test results (Pass or Fail) will be communicated to the New York State Home Care Worker Registry and your AHHATP.
Please VERIFY that you have registered for the New York MACE® with your name as it appears on your government-issued and secondary IDs. Your name must match what was entered on the New York State Home Care Worker Registry by the Advanced Home Health Aide Training Program (AHHATP). The government issued ID must be current, include a photograph, and be the same government-issued ID used to enroll in the Advanced Home Health Aide Training Program. If there are any discrepancies, please contact your AHHATP immediately to resolve.
Note: The same acceptable government-issued identification must be provided by the candidate and must match exactly what is entered by the AHHATP in the Home Care Worker Registry for the verification and candidate’s admission to take the New York MACE®.
