MRCGP [INT.] South Asia

(International Membership of Royal College of General Practitioners)

The MRCGP [INT.] South Asia is an accredited site of Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), London and runs the International membership exam (MRCGP [INT.]) of RCGP in south Asian member countries which includes Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A large number of candidates originally from south Asian member countries, working in Middle East and KSA also apply for the exam.

Success in both parts of the MRCGP [INT.] South Asia exam will make a candidate eligible for International Membership of the RCGP.

There are two parts of the MRCGP [INT.] exam, which are:

  • Applied Knowledge Test (AKT)
  • Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) Exam Information:

The AKT is a summative assessment of the knowledge base that underpins independent general practice within the south Asia region. The multiple choice paper is computer-based consisting of 200 questions in the single best answer format. Time allowed for completion of the paper is 3½ hours. Note that no extra time in any circumstances will be allowed.

Approximately 90% of items are on clinical medicine and 10% on research or evidence-based practice.

The online AKT exam is currently available twice a year, in June and November, and can be taken in Abu Dhabi and Karachi centres at the available Pearson VUE test venues.

Scheduling your test centre:

Once the registration for the upcoming exam is confirmed by the MRCGP [INT.] South Asia admin office, you will be provided with a personalized link through email for logging on to the Pearson VUE website to choose and book a seat at the centre where you wish to sit the exam.

Rescheduling or cancelling your test:

Please note that all request for deferring or cancelling the exam must be done according to the application withdrawal deadlines mentioned in the exam calendar available on the MRCGP [INT.] South Asia website, through email to the MRCGP [INT.] South Asia Admin office.

Exam Timings (ALL LOCAL TIMINGS):

Reporting time – please report to the testing centre 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time, the exact exam start time can be found in your order confirmation email.

Exam timings – the exam will last for 210 minutes and your exact exam start time can be found in your order confirmation email.

Feedback questionnaire – 10 minutes at the end of the exam.

Candidates reporting after 15 minutes from the start of the exam will not be allowed to sit the exam.
