Florida Department of Law Enforcement selects Pearson VUE to deliver computer-based certification exam for new police officers

Bloomington, MN, June 10, 2013 — Newly trained police and corrections officers in Florida are set to join the ranks of law enforcement quicker than before, thanks to a computer-based testing agreement between Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Pearson VUE.

Starting in the fall of 2013, the agreement will ensure officers discover their results on the day they take the State Officer Certification Exam, allowing them to join departments sooner. They will also have greater access to the exam as it becomes available across Florida for the first time in its history. Previously delivered through the traditional method of paper and pencil, the exam will be available in selected Pearson VUE test centers across the state. Exam questions will continue to cover a range of topic areas for each discipline, from Crime Scene Investigations to Traffic Crash Investigations and Supervising in a Correctional Facility to Responding to Incidents and Emergencies.

Robert Whelan, CEO and President of Pearson VUE, said: “This agreement marks Pearson VUE’s first venture into law enforcement testing, an achievement in which we are extremely proud. Helping to progress the careers of officers and ensure the continued safety of citizens is a great privilege for us.”
