Certified Family Peer Specialist (CPSP) Testing

Certified Family Peer Specialist (CPSP) Testing

Coordinated through Professional Testing (PTI).

The National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health (NFFCMH) offers the Certified Family Peer Specialist (CPSP) credential to ensure that individuals employed in this field meet consistent and high standards of performance. If you have at least 88 contact hours of training, 1,000 hours of work or volunteer experience, 20 hours of supervision and can document “lived experience”, you can apply for the credential and take the examination.

Before scheduling an exam, you must complete the NFFCMH’s CPSP application and receive an authorization-to-test email. For more information, visit the Certification website or follow the “Related Links” on this page. You may also contact the national office at 240-403-1901 or certification@ffcmh.org.

Scheduling for a computer-based exam

Your authorization-to-test email will tell you the first and last dates you may take the exam. It is up to you to make an appointment to take the exam in that timeframe.

Exam appointments may be made up to one business day in advance. Locations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advisable to schedule early.

First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. Please note that account activation may require up to 24 hours. When creating your account and scheduling your exam, you will need your NFFCMH candidate ID number from the authorization-to-test email sent to you upon approval of your CPSP application.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
