Information Governance Professional Examination

Coordinated through Professional Testing (PTI).

The IGP credential defines the competency requirements necessary to demonstrate effective information governance practice, including accountability, transparency, integrity, protection, compliance, availability, retention, and disposition. The role of the information governance professional is strategic in nature, ensuring that opportunities to leverage information effectively can be capitalized on, while preventing or mitigating potential risks posed by record keeping practices. The practice of information governance extends beyond the traditional role of a records manager, and the credential is intended to reflect this distinct body of knowledge and associated skills and abilities for the information governance professional. As the highest industry credential for information governance professionals, the IGP credential demonstrates knowledge and competency in the area of information governance, and dedication to upholding high standards of ethical and professional practice.

Before scheduling an IGP exam, you must meet the prerequisites, apply, pay the designated fee, and receive an authorization-to-test email from ARMA International. For more information, visit the IGP website.

Take your exam conveniently from home through OnVUE online proctoring. A live proctor will monitor you through the webcam on your workstation to provide a secure exam experience.

Scheduling for a computer based exam

Once you have received your authorization-to-test email from ARMA International, it is up to you to schedule your test.

Exam appointments may be made up to one business day in advance. Locations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is advisable to schedule early.

First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. Please note that account activation may require up to 24 hours. When creating your account and scheduling your exam, you will need your IGP candidate ID number from the authorization-to-test email sent to you upon completion of the application process.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
